Description
Wow I can't belive this piece survived. Here is its miraculous story.
So I made this thing, and everything exept for the back legs were finished. By the time I remembered it, it was practically bonedry. I kind of liked it though, so I wanted to finish it. I did what went against everything I have ever learned about pottery in order to save its life. I added water to the dry clay until its surface had dissolved enough to add some clay at a plastic consistency for the legs. As I was doing that I broke the front legs into about 3 pieces each. Right there I probably should have stopped, but I was pretty determined. I would not give up on this deer thing. I soaked the front legs in water for a few seconds, than scored them and attached them together with some supple clay. Finally, the legs became attached to it and I carried it down to the ready to fire shelf. To my bewilderment, it came out of the kiln in one piece. Everything I have ever known is now a lie.
So yeah thats why I titled it the miracle of survival.
